State and national champions? The largest lilac tree in Virginia happens to also be the largest in the nation. The tree is located in the Maymont Foundation in the city of Richmond. It had a circumference of 136 inches, 30 feet tall, and a 35 foot crown spread that comes to a total points of 175.

At Radford University, There are currently 13 lilac trees on Radford Universities campus, which I collected measures on 5 of them. The map to the left shows tree # 247 highlighted and is located across from Dalton hall and on the side of Cook hall (3 in a row). All of the lilac trees are in a light green color with a few other members of the Oleaceae family.
